More than $175,000 has been invested in the infrastructure needed to improve mobile network access and speed for customers in the township, with mobile coverage expanding from Seadown Rd to the south, Round Hill to the west, Windsor Rd to the northwest and Devils Bridge Rd to the northeast. Spark general manager of networks Colin Brown said the investment was part of the company’s plan to improve mobile services in rural areas. ‘‘We’re giving customers in the Weston area better access to mobile services so they can do things online faster and easier, like uploading videos and photos to social media and sharing and downloading files while out and about. ‘‘This follows a similar investment W we made on the Maheno RBI site just south of Oamaru in 2013, eston residents and visitors to the area can now do more with their 60+ cumecs NEWS Mobile service boost Coverage boost: Mobile coverage in Weston is now better than ever. Photo: SUPPLIED ensuring customers can stay connected with friends and family over mobile.’’ As part of its plan to extend fast 4G to the regions and rural centres over the next three years a number of RBI and 3G mobile sites will be livened with 4G, which Brown said will benefit local businesses. ‘‘Access to 4G mobile data will be transformative for local businesses, as it allows them to tap into the latest mobile apps and software on their devices faster than before – which is vital for success and growth.’’ Looking for Meridian Waitaki Community Fund Meridian recognises the importance of local communities to our hydro and wind operations.
